Walk-A-Thon WEEK!

This is the week we have our annual TLS Walk-A-Thon!  Your student has until Friday to collect donations.  We are really working hard to reach our goal of $12,000.00!

Trinity Night at AirFX!

PTL Family FUNdraiser Night
On Thursday, September 28th from 4:00pm-9:00pm we will have a Trinity night at AirFX.  For $12.00 per person you get: 1 hour of jump time, socks, 1 Lazer Frenzy Token, and a large fountain drink. $3.00 goes back to the school
Come wear out those kids AND support TLS!  Win! Win!

Eighth Grade Chapel

The eighth grade class will be leading chapel on Wednesday, September 20th, at 8:30am.   Parents and visitors are always welcome to join the students and staff at our weekly chapel service. 

Physical Education Class for 5th-8th Grade

On Thursday, September 21, we are going to combine our conditioning and activity periods in a cross country meet at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca!  The purpose of this event is to promote physical fitness in a fun and different way.  

All students in our fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade gym classes will be placed on a team.  Every student’s score (the place they take in the meet) will count towards their team’s total.  In cross country one doesn’t have to be the best runner on the course to help his team; every individual’s effort counts.

Please see the attached form for the cross country teams.  Your child should wear a t-shirt in his/her respective team color.  

We will be leaving school at approximately 8:30 AM.  We will return to Trinity by 11:45A.M.

Students may come to school dressed in their gym clothes .  They will need to have their school uniform clothes available to change into once they arrive back at school. 

Students will be eating lunch at school. 

Healthy Snack Sales

Healthy snack sales are held once a month usually on the third Thursday. Reminders will be in TAB, and on the school website calendar. 


Each month 2 classes bring snacks and drinks to school and one of those classes is the host.  That means that the room parents for the host class are responsible for setting up, selling, and cleaning up after the sale that runs from 1:30pm-3:30pm that day.  The sale takes place in the entryway of the school.   

 

All snacks are 50 cents and each student is allowed to buy up to 2 items during the school day, and then, if there are any left, after school.   All leftover snacks may be given to Extended Care or the 2 participating classrooms.

 

A list of healthy snack items will be sent home with each student.  Parents are encouraged to send only items on that list.  Healthy snacks may be brought the morning of the sale and put in the conference room, on the table.  The conference room is located to the left as you come in the front door.   

 

All money collected will be split between the two classes and used to help cover costs of that class' eighth grade class trip.  If you have any questions, please contact your homeroom teacher.   

TLS Walk-A-Thon Online~!

Our annual TLS Walk-A-Thon fundraiser is off to a good start.  Students have until the day of the event, Friday, September 29 (Thursday, September 28 for PK3) to collect donations.  Help your child reach their goal!  If every student collects $60 in donations we will make our $12,000.00 goal easily.  Remember we are also sharing 10% of our profits with the School to School Texas Hurricane Relief program.  We are helping a school in Texas rebuild from storm damage.   Check out all the Walk-A-Thon details on our website:  https://sites.google.com/site/trinityluthschoolcr/walk-a-thon

TLS Golf Outing

Thank you to the 36 golfers and many sponsors that took part in our annual golf outing.  Pictures from the event are on our facebook page.  We raised $2,500.00 for the school and enjoyed a great day of golf with beautiful weather!  

Bring Your Own Device Questions Answered

Following is a list of some of the most asked questions regarding our new BYOD program that officially begins for the 2018-2019 school year.

Why BYOD?  When students do not have the capability of taking the iPad home we are limited in what can be accomplished in our classrooms.

 Why iPads?  The middle school department at TLS has been using iPads regularly for the past 9 years. Rather than recreate curriculum and programs we have developed, we are recommending the iPad for our students. Apple products also come with programs and apps preloaded that are not otherwise available or only available for purchase on other devices.

 Do we have to bring an iPad?  No, however some assignments may be more challenging to complete if the device your student is using does not offer the same application.  Teachers may also be limited on the ability to troubleshoot and assist students with other programs.

 Why doesn’t the school provide devices?  At this time, the school is unable to financially support a 1:1 program and the staff required to maintain and operate such a program. 

 What about a group purchase?  Apple does not offer group purchase pricing.

 If we already have an iPad that meets the requirements do we have to purchase a new one just for school?  No, we expect these to be your personal devices and to have non-school related apps etc. on them.  We are working with students on responsible use of a device and how to manage personal versus educational use.

 Can I bring an iPad Mini?  Yes, if you already own a Mini.  If you are making an iPad purchase, please follow the iPad recommendation as the larger screen size will be a future requirement for state testing.

 If I get an iPad during this school year can I start bringing it?  Yes!  The BYOD program is optional for the 2017-2018 school year and anticipate students bringing devices at random times throughout the year.

 Do I need my iPad at school everyday?  Yes, once you have your device it is expected that it be at school on a daily basis, charged and ready to use.  If devices are not fully charged students may want to bring a charger to school with them as our chargers are not compatible with the new iPads. Classrooms will only have enough iPads for students that do not have their own device.
