A Message From Miss VanDenBerg

posted Jun 12, 2017, 12:24 PM by Trinity Lutheran

Dear Trinity Lutheran School and Church,

It is with mixed emotions that I let you know I have accepted a call to NEW Lutheran High School in Green Bay, WI.  I'm excited to move closer to my family but I'm brokenhearted over leaving Trinity.  While I've only been here for three years, the impact this place will have on me will last forever.  Since day one you have welcomed me with open arms and Trinity has become like family to me and I know it will be hard to leave.

To the students...I don't know where to start.  This is the hardest goodbye of all.  I have had a great time getting to know and love you.  I will miss the day-to-day time with each of you.  It makes me sad to think I won't see you on a daily basis.  If you were terrible kids it wouldn't be so hard, but you're great kids and I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to know you.  We've shared many laughs, a couple tears, and hopefully you learned something.  Know that you'll always have a place in heart.

To the parents...Great kids come from great families, and I strongly believe that is the case here at Trinity.  Thank you for raising your children in the Lord and His Word.  Thank you also for the encouragement and prayers you’ve given during my years here.  Thank you for entrusting me with your children and supporting me.

To the staff...I'm so lucky to have worked with you.  Your dedication to the students and to Trinity sets the bar high for any school.  Thank you for being my family and for loving on me.

I love you all.

In His Grip <><,

Loren VanDenBerg

Welcome to our NEW Second Grade Teacher!

posted Jun 2, 2017, 8:09 AM by Trinity Lutheran

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Ann Halvorson will be our second grade teacher starting in the fall of 2017.  Below is some bio info on Mrs. Halvorson:

After earning a degree in Dietetics from California State University, Chico and while

raising five children, (four daughters and one son) Ann went back to college at the University of Minnesota to work on her Masters of Elementary Education. She obtained her K-6 Elementary License and 5-8 Science License and taught first grade two years and fourth grade one year at Lincoln Elementary school in Elk River, MN. Since relocating to Cedar Rapids with her husband and best friend, Rev. Mark Halvorson, Ann has substitute taught in the Cedar Rapids and Linn Mar school districts. She is thrilled to be in a Christian classroom full time. She is passionate about nurturing students’ growth and faith in Christ and helping them reach their full potential. Outside of the classroom she and Mark enjoy reading, exploring the US and spending all the time they can with their now grown children and six grandchildren. They also enjoy gardening and last year Ann fulfilled a long time goal of becoming a Master Gardener through ISU extension.

Mr. Mueller shared his thoughts on hiring Mrs. Halvorson:

"Ann brings not only teaching experience--that she gained in a variety of academic settings--but also deep life experience to our school and the second grade classroom.  More than that, Ann is passionate in her desire to help her students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.”
