Event Dates for Trinity Band, Choir and Handbell Students

Dear Trinity Band, Choir and Handbell Students & Parents:

                Please be sure that the following performance dates are included in your personal calendars.  Additional information will follow as each event approaches.

·         Sunday, October 23:  Grades K-3 Choir, led by Ms. Drees, scheduled to sing @ 9 a.m. worship at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Arrival time 8:45 a.m. 

 This event is not required, but your attendance is strongly encouraged and much appreciated.

Tuesday, November 15:  TLS Band & Choir Concert @ 6:30 p.m.  Arrival time 6:00 p.m.  Please note that there is a Soup Supper prior to the concert at 5 p.m

 This concert is required for all TLS students in grades 4-8.  This requirement  supersedes any other outside commitments, including athletic activities.  If a student  has a legitimate and unavoidable conflict with the concert, the conflict must be discussed with and any absence approved by the directors and Mr. Mueller in advance  of the concert.   Concert attendance is a significant part of the student's band and/or    choir grades.

 Sunday, November 20:  Grades 4-8 Choirs, led by Mrs. Benya, scheduled to sing @    9 a.m. worship at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Arrival time 8:45 a.m..

 This event is not required, but your attendance is strongly encouraged and  much appreciated.  Mission Central Director, Gary Thies, will provide the sermon – Gary is not to be missed!

 Thursday, December 20:  Pre-K – Grade 3 Christmas Program, led by Ms. Drees, @ 2:00 p.m. & 6:30 p.m. at the school.  Arrival time for evening performance is 6:15 p.m.  Please note that the PTL Sweets & Treats Shoppe will be open after each performance!

 These programs are required for all TLS students in grades Pre-K- grade 3.  If a student has a legitimate and unavoidable conflict with the concert, the conflict must be discussed with and any absence approved by Ms. Drees and Mr. Mueller in advance of the program.  

 Wednesday, December 22:  Student-led Christmas chapel @ 8:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Parents and friends are invited to attend.

 Sunday, January 15:  Grades 4-8 Choirs, led by Mrs. Benya, scheduled to sing @         9 a.m. worship at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Arrival time 8:45 a.m.

                 This event is required for all varsity basketball players and cheerleaders                                          and strongly encouraged for all other students in grades 4-8.  This is Midwinter                                  Tournament Weekend!

                 Sunday, March 5:  Grades 4-8 Choir, led by Mrs. Benya, scheduled to sing @ 9 a.m.                         worship at Trinity Lutheran Church.  Arrival time 8:45 a.m.

This event is not required, but your attendance is strongly encouraged, and much appreciated.  This is the start of National Lutheran Schools Week!

 April 2016 – specific date TBA:  Grades K-3 choir, led by Ms. Drees, to sing at one of the local LCMS churches in the Cedar Rapids area.

Thursday, April 27:  Grades 4-8 Operetta performances at 1:30 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.

 

These programs are required for all TLS students in grades 4-8.  If a student has a legitimate and unavoidable conflict with the concert, the conflict must be discussed with and any absence approved by Ms. Drees and Mr. Mueller in advance of the program.  

 

·         Tuesday, May 16:  TLS Band & Choir Concert @ 6:30 p.m. in school gym.  Arrival time 6:00 p.m.

Dress code for band/choir events:  Students are encouraged to wear dress clothes with appropriate shoes to the events listed above.  Concerning shoes: No spike heels, sandals, or flip-flops.  If you do not own dress shoes, please wear your best tennis shoes.  At a minimum, students are to wear school-appropriate clothing:  no jeans, no hooded sweatshirts, no graphic t-shirts.  If you have any questions about the band/choir event dress code, please ask Ms. Drees or Mrs. Benya.
