March 2017

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Students,

As we look ahead toward spring, we invite you to get your creative juices flowing! Community Lutheran School (Readlyn/Klinger) will host the annual Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, April 22.

ALL students, Kindergarten-8th grade may participate in the Festival. Vocal, instrumental, arts & crafts, creative writing, skits or readings – anything fun and creative that interests you is welcome! Projects should be completed from the beginning of the current school year, but not be for an assignment or already graded.

ALL entry forms and projects for ALL participants should be mailed or delivered to Community Lutheran School (2681 Quail Ave., Readlyn, IA 50668) by Friday, April 7. Arts & Crafts and Creative Writing entries will be judged prior to the festival. Late entries may not be judged. Each participating school is asked to contribute $30 to cover the expense of judges, ribbons, and certificates.

Some ideas from past festivals include, but are not limited to:

·         LEGO creations (from a kit or not)

·         Knitting or sewing projects

·         Artwork – pencil, marker, crayon, paint, chalk, paper, canvas, etc.

·         Woodworking projects – big or small

·         Cardboard or paper projects – be creative and build something from your imagination!

·         Skits/Readings – Shel Silversten poems, Dr. Seuss, or an original work

·         Instruments – if you can play it, you can bring it! Piano, brass, woodwind, drums/percussion, guitar, etc. These pieces DO NOT have to be memorized. Please provide music for the judges.

·         Vocal/Singing – solos or groups are welcome! Please provide music for the judges.

 Be creative! Use your imagination!

Each student is allowed a maximum of SIX entries, including no more than THREE PERFORMING entries.

ALL are invited to an opening worship service at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary of Immanuel Lutheran Church. The performances will begin after the opening service. A closing awards ceremony will be held at the end of the performances, time to be determined by the number of entries for the day.

We look forward to sharing our God-given gifts and talents with all participants!

Please see Mrs. Becker or Mrs. Powell for an entry form or if you have additional questions.
